I could always paint and draw. Throughout the years, I have tried to add this natural ability through education, trial and error, etc.
Recently, I heard the story of a professor grading the papers of a student. The student turned in his work only to have it returned with the note saying, "Is this the best you can do?" This happened three times and finally the student changed one word and personally turned it in saying "This is the best I can do," whereupon the professor said "I will read it now."
In my studio I have a sign saying "Is this the best I can do?" I take my time with each painting. I look and look again, changing a few things. Then to my potential collectors I say, "You may look now."
